Fall is a great time of year to spend some time cooking and really savoring food. It is actually my favorite time of year to play in the kitchen because of all the delicious fruits and vegetables available.
I usually like to have something tasty ready for my kids and husband when they get home, and they each have their favorites. The kids like these Sugar Honey Baked Apples and I love the scrumptious and homey smell that fills the house when I take them out of the oven. And, the smile on my husband's face when he comes home from work and smells these Cinnamon Raisin Stuffed Apples cooking in the oven warms me to the core.
Bubbling casseroles are a nice dinner side and they're also easy to throw together in addition to making great leftovers. This Corn and Broccoli Casserole is so good, your family won't even notice that they're eating veggies.
Chef John's Creamy Broccoli Soup After Labor Day, I like to keep my fridge stocked with at least one homemade soup at all times. Soups are not only a great fall meal, they are great to make ahead of time and have ready at a moment’s notice. This Chef John's Creamy Broccoli Soup as well as this Slow Cooker Wild Rice and Chicken Soup are some of my favorites to whip up.
Although I love all types of fall cooking, desserts are my absolute favorite. From Pumpkin Pie to this Vanilla Wafer Apple Crunch, fall desserts are delicious. Served warm with a little drizzle of cream or some vanilla ice cream, there's no better way to end a beautiful fall day.
